Sleeping much better, March 17, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Memory Foam Mattress Pad - 4 lb density - 2" Twin (Natural) (2"D Twin) My mattress is old, and there was a spring sticking in my back no matter which way I flipped it. Rather than get a new mattress, I thought I would give this 2" mattress topper a try. I couldn't be happier! I have it for about 1 week now, and my sleep has greatly improved. I am a side sleeper, but I do not sink all the way into it because it is 4 lb density, and can't feel anymore springs! I was initially looking for something "rock hard" that I would not sink into at all, because I normally like a firm mattress. This topper is definitely not rock hard, there is some give to it. However, I find that that just makes it more supportive, without any pressure points. I've read reviews from other people complaining that they cannot roll over because the topper has too much give, and they get "stuck." I have not had that issue with this topper. I'm deployed in Kuwait. Mattresses are not the best here. This is the difference between waking up every hour, or getting a good nights sleep.
You don't want to go over 2 inch depth. Would never get your fitted sheet on the bed.
As far as the smell when new, dissipates very quickly. Not strong, at least for me. Air it out for a couple of hours should take care of it.
